2021 Toyota Sienna Review, Release date, Hybrid

After all those crossover redesigns and updates, it’s finally Sienna’s turn. The famous minivan is about to get a complete overhaul, after a full decade. The current generation has been around since 2010. So, we can easily agree that it desperately needs changes, despite the fact that we have seen a couple of updates during this decade-long production cycle. Still, that doesn’t change the fact that younger rivals have more things to offer. They feature better interior quality, better mpg ratings and more tech features. However, the current Sienna still has a lot to offer, so may presume how much improvement this redesign will bring. The 2021 Toyota Sienna will come with a new platform, with new aesthetics and many more improvements.

Some reports also suggest a hybrid version to be offered, though we are still waiting for the official confirmation. In any case, the new model is expected to hit the market sometime in the next year.

2021 Toyota Sienna Redesign

There’s no doubt that the upcoming redesign will bring a lot of important novelties. The first thing that comes to mind is the platform. Of course, the 2021 Toyota Sienna will ride on the new TNGA architecture, which will significantly improve the ride quality and efficiency. More precisely, the new model will ride on a stretched version of this platform, the same one that underprints the new Avalon.

Another important change that this redesign is going to bring is a change in terms of dimensions. Allegedly, the new model will get bigger. It will feature a longer wheelbase, while we also count on a couple of more inches in terms of overall length. Moreover, the latest reports suggest a wider track as well. However, the new platform will ensure notable weight savings, so the 2021 Toyota Sienna is about to be lighter compared to its predecessor.

Exterior Design

Of course, this redesign will bring a completely new exterior look as well. The testing model has been spotted already. However, it is still under heavy camouflage, so we can’t tell much about the aesthetics. Still, we have no doubt that the new model will follow the brand’s latest design language. Therefore, the front end should feature a lot of similarities with models like Camry and Avalon. Still, keep in mind that this is a minivan, so there isn’t too much room for designers’ freedom. The overall shape will remain pretty much the same. We count on a little bit sharper approach but all in all, it would be hard to expect anything bigger in terms of overall proportions.

Interior

The interior has always been the most important thing about these vehicles. Therefore, we have no doubt that Toyota designers will pay special attention to the new cabin. The current model still looks nice, but definitely needs updates in terms of interior aesthetics. Simply, rivals are younger and feature more attractive dashboard design and color schemes. Also, they are equipped with much more advanced tech goodies, so we have no doubt that the 2021 Toyota Sienna will come with a huge portion of novelties. Of course, it will feature a new dashboard layout, more opulent and equipped with tons of advanced tech goodies.

This minivan has never lacked interior space. The current model offers plenty of legroom, as well as a huge amount of cargo space. For example, a total cargo volume goes all-away up to 150 cubic feet. However, it lacks practicality and functionality. For example, you have to physically remove the second row to get maximum cargo volume. We expect that the new model will come with some much better design solution.

2021 Toyota Sienna Engine

Despite the age, the current Siena is pretty amazing when it comes to powertrain. It comes with a well-known 3.5-liter V6 engine, which for this occasion delivers 296. With such amount of horsepower, this minivan is surprisingly quick. Moreover, it feels pretty refined and doesn’t deliver too much noise, even at higher speeds. Also, it features pretty average mpg ratings. Finally, this is the only model in class that offers AWD configuration.

All these things indicate that the 2021 Toyota Sienna won’t come with radical changes in terms of powertrain. The current engine will probably carry on, though with a couple of modifications that would provide more power and better fuel economy. Same goes for 8-speed automatic transmission.

On the other side, various reports are suggesting a hybrid powertrain to be offered. At this point, we still don’t have any details, so we won’t speculate about anything more precise.

2021 Toyota Sienna Release Date and Price

The 2021 Toyota Sienna will hit the market in the next year. The more precise date is still unknown, but we presume it will happen sometime in the third quarter of the year. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect that this redesign will bring bigger deviations. The current model starts at around 31.500 dollars. Key rivals are models like Honda Odyssey, Chrysler Pacifica, Kia Sedona etc.
