2021 Chrysler Pacifica AWD, Facelift, Specs, Rumors

Despite the fact that crossovers are dominating the market these days, there is still a large number of drivers who remained loyal to a traditional minivan design as the perfect passenger vehicle. Therefore, the competition in the segment is still pretty tough. These are several amazing models around, including this one. The Pacifica has been on the market for a couple of years and it already managed to establish its position on the market. It has a lot of strong points, starting from an affordable price, optional plug-in hybrid powertrain, modern interior etc. Still, that doesn’t mean we won’t see changes in the near future. The company wants to keep the minivan’s good position on the market, so the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is about to come with updates.

According to the latest reports, this is going to be a major update, with a fine portion of changes in all aspects.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Redesign

In terms of base design characteristics, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica definitely won’t change. The overall layout will remain the same. This minivan rides on a familiar Compact US Wide platform and has a lot in common with the Chrysler 200, which wasn’t too successful project. Anyway, we don’t expect any bigger changes in terms of mechanics, although some reports were suggesting optional AWD systems. Currently, this model comes in FWD versions only. Still, that shouldn’t be taken as a drawback, considering that most rivals are the same.

On the other side, certain styling changes seem possible. This will be a typical mid-cycle, so a bit of a facelift is more than welcome. We can’t talk about details at the moment, but we presume that most of the changes will come at the front end. Slight revisions on the front fascia seem likely, as well as a new bumper, with new air intakes and foglights design. Other than that, we count on new sets of wheels and maybe some new color options. The rear end shouldn’t come with more notable changes.

Interior

Minivans are mostly about passengers, so it’s no wonder that the focus is on the interior design. The Pacifica does the job pretty good, though there is still enough room for improvements. For example, rear seats aren’t as supportive as in some rival models, so we could see some improvements in this aspect.

On the other side, the overall interior quality is great. The dashboard design is pretty stylish, while hi-quality materials are all over the cabin. Also, the thing we like a lot about this minivan is great sound insulation, which ensures a quiet and comfortable ride at higher speeds as well.

The cargo volume seems okay, but definitely isn’t the aspect where this minivan can be considered as a class leader. Moreover, most rivals are way better in this aspect. Still, you can count on decent 32 cubic feet behind the rear seats, while the overall capacity goes around 140 cubic feet.

Features

This is the aspect where we expect to see a lot of novelties. The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica should come with updates and upgrades in many ways, including the addition of latest tech goodies. The current model is already generous in this aspect but we presume some of the optional features could become standard in the next year. Some of the potential candidates are features like satellite radio, two 10-inch rear-seat touch screens, a 13-speaker Alpine audio system, a rear-seat DVD player, a built-in vacuum, a 4G Wi-Fi hot spot etc.

In terms of safety, we definitely count on more features on the list of standard equipment. Currently, a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear parking sensors are the only standard safety systems. If we look at the rivals, this list definitely needs to be expanded.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Engines

The engine would provide better efficiency. Currently, standard models come with a familiar 3.6-liter V6, which is good for 287 horsepower and comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission. It isn’t the most refined engine in the class, but definitely has enough power to ensure a convenient ride. Also, fuel economy is pretty good as well.

Speaking of the fuel economy, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica will also continue with a plug-in hybrid powertrain in the offer. This system combines a V6 engine with a pair of electric motors for a total output of 260 horsepower. Seems like a decent amount but more importantly, this system ensures pretty amazing fuel economy. You can count 82 mpg-e fuel economy and an all-electric range of 36 miles, which makes this minivan an obvious choice if efficiency is your main concern.
