If we can rely on the latest reports, it looks like the 2020 VW Touran is about to receive some novelties. The current model is in the second generation. The original version was in production for full 12 years, between 2003 and 2015. For all those years, we have seen two major updates. The current generation is on the market for about three years and it looks like the first update is reserved for the next year. However, we are still waiting for the official announcement. In any case, this refresh should come soon. We can’t say for sure what are all the things that it will bring, but cosmetical changes seems pretty much certain. This means updates to the styling, though some interior changes are possible as well. On the other side, things under the hood will definitely remain unchanged.
2020 VW Touran Exterior Changes
As you may presume, most of the changes for this update will be on the exterior design. According to most reports, this update will be classic facelift. What is it going to bring, it is still hard to tell. This company is known for its pretty careful approach when it comes to new styling solutions. We definitely won’t see some major changes at the front, especially if we consider that this MPV is on the market for only three years, at this moment. Most likely, we will see something similar to the Golf Mk7 facelift, which brought so minor changes that those who are not so into this model can barely notice changes. So, expect to see minimal tweaks to the front fascia, slight bumper reshaping and similar things. Of course, we will see few more color options, as well as some new rims designs.
2020 VW Touran Interior Design
Most likely, this update won’t affect the cabin too much. The 2020 VW Touran should continue with a familiar interior design, which is characterized by pretty simple, but good-looking dashboard layout. Also, the overall quality is on a pretty high level. All surfaces seem durable, while the seats are quite comfortable. The interior space is also pretty good, though not the best in class. Same goes to cargo capacity. The biggest novelty for the next year will probably be new color schemes.
When it comes to standard features, this small MPV comes with a decent list of standard equipment. Some of the highlights are the newest infotainment system with smartphone integration, which runs on an 8-inch touchscreen. Also, you can count on loads of driver-assistance features. In higher trim levels, you can even get things like forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and more.
2020 VW Touran Engines
In this aspect we definitely won’t see changes. The current model comes with three gasoline and three diesel engines in the offer and the 2020 VW Touran will definitely continue in the same way. The base gasoline engine is a 1.2-liter turbo inline-four, which is good for about 110 horsepower. The next one is a 1.4-liter unit, which delivers 150 hp. The most powerful gasoline engine in the offer is a 1.8-liter engine, which features a max output of 180 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque.
When it comes to diesel engines, the offer starts with a 1.6-liter TDI unit, which has around 110 horsepower. A bigger 2.0-liter engine comes in two output variants, with either 150 or 190 horses.
2020 VW Touran Release Date and Price
Considering the expected update, we should see 2020 VW Touran a little bit earlier than usual, probably in the third quarter of the next year. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect bigger changes, so base models should go around 28.000 dollars.
