2020 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso Review

It looks like the popular minivan is closing to the end of its production cycle and that the all-new version will come next year as the 2020 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso. The Picasso nameplate came more than 15 years ago. At that time, it was based on the Xsara hatchback and it remained active for a surprisingly long time, considering the outdated platform. The current third-generation model is on the market for about five years. In came in 2013 and latest reports suggest its redesign for the next year. If you are familiar with the current situation in the PSA Group, you probably know that the French company plans some very big things for the next year. It looks like more than 40% of the current Peugeot and Citroen models will be redesigned in the next couple of years. The 2020 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso is definitely in this group. The company is developing a completely new platform for compact and mid-size cars and both Grand Picasso and its five-seater sibling will adopt it in the near future. It should bring lots of improvements in various aspects. First of all, expect to see some weight savings, which will provide more space on the inside, though we must say that the current model already offers spectacular comfort. Of course, the most notable thing about the upcoming redesign will be a new styling. Latest reports suggest that Citroen won’t experiment too much with the new model. The company that is famous for its avant-guard designing approach will most likely play on safe this time. We will see an evolution of the current model, a similar overall shape but with the new face. Even front and rear ends won’t be drastically changed. The current model is recognizable by its interesting design of lighting groups at the front. We presume that the new model will probably come back to something more conventional this time.

On the inside, expect a similar approach to the current model. In practice, this would mean an extremely comfortable cabin that insists on convenience. The materials quality should be on an acceptable level, while the all-electric cluster should come once again. Of course, expect lots of standard equipment, including the latest gadgetry and plenty of tech features.

2020 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso Engines

When it comes to engines, we have no doubt that the current lineup will remain pretty much the same. This company develops current engines for decades and the upcoming redesign should once again involve some modifications that would provide better efficiency. Most drivers would go for diesel units. There are two well-known HDI engines in the offer. The smaller one features a displacement of 1.6 liters and comes in two output variants, with either 100 or 120 horsepower. This engine has been updated a couple of years ago, so we shouldn’t see bigger changes at the moment. On the other side, a bigger 2.0-liter unit is currently good for about 150 hp and latest reports suggest we could see a few tweaks soon.

When it comes to petrol engines, the offer should start with a 1.2-liter unit, which is good for about 130 hp. A bigger 1.6-liter engine has been around for decades and the company is constantly improving it. The current version delivers around 165 horses.
