Kia Sedona is a refreshment for the minivan class. While the last model slowed things down, the 2019 Kia Sedona is there to impress. The new van will be better and it will put some challenges ahead of Japanese and American models. Right from the first sight you will see why. Designers’ approach made this minivan futuristic and more crossover-like. The new Kia Sedona 2019 will borrow some parts from proven siblings. For example, that is a grille from Sorento SUV or ice cube fog lights from few other vehicles.
One of the disappointments is a lack of hybrid drivetrain. Everyone expected from Kia to step up and be the first company to follow Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. Well, these rumors didn’t come true, and the minivan sticks to its petrol engine. However, with interior improvements, the minivan will be comfortable. Also, it comes with few trim levels to improve overall impression.
2019 Kia Sedona Specs
The 2019 Kia Sedona will use a 3.3-liter V-6 engine as a power generator. It is smaller than most of its rivals are using. However, a V6 still manages to put up enough power for minivan’s needs. Outputs are 275 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. Since the same unit was available for the 2018 year model, we can expect smooth shifting through an eight-speed gearbox, and crisp acceleration. This is one of the major change for the 2019 season. Sedona replaced an old 6-speed gearbox with the new and modern one.
Front-wheel drive is standard. Buyers can choose an all-wheel drive, but it consumes too much fuel. Kia Sedona is not among the leaders in this section. It returns only 21 mpg combined. Highway rating is 25 mpg.
2019 Kia Sedona Changes
The new 2019 Kia Sedona is bringing a lot of cosmetic changes. Outside and inside. The minivan got its fans used to its special look. The Korean carmaker is not disappointing this time. First of all, there is a new grille. Although we can see it on current Kia Sorento, it perfectly fits Sedona with ice cube fog lights. Also, the new minivan brings the new bumper and narrower headlights to complete the aggressive look of the front fascia. Furthermore, the minivan comes with 17-inch wheels, and upper trims are offering 18- and 19-inch rims.
Interior
Not only that exterior of the new 2019 Kia Sedona is suffering changes, but also interior. Well, the cabin is not under reconstruction, but it will update its technology. Also, the look got a refreshment. The dashboard presents new details, while the overall shape is pretty much the same. Restyling of the graphics and gauges is an excellent move. The new Sedona can take either seven or eight passengers. In the first configuration, we are getting captain chairs for the second row.
One of the focuses was on the infotainment system. For example, now the 2019 Kia Sedona offers a USB port for rear seats. The audio system is the same for base models, while premium audio is not Infinity anymore. Instead, Harmon/Kardon is taking its place at higher trims. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard. Back of front headrests allow a 10-inch screen to fit as optional features. Also, the infotainment system supports wireless connectivity via Bluetooth, so passengers can pair their smartphones and watch a movie and listen to music played from command panel.
