There are not too many Dodge vehicles available in the market. One of the last standing vehicles from this famous company is a minivan. The 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan will continue to fight for its place in the segment and under the roof of FCA factories. Founded in 1900, Dodge had some harsh times. But, since Fiat and Chrysler joined forces in 2014 vehicles with this badge are leaders in their segment. These are Charger and Challenger supercars, Durango three-row and Journey mid-size SUV, and of course, Grand Caravan MPV.
The 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan is not bringing a new generation, although many fans thought this is happening after 11 years. But, some of the next minivans will start the fifth series. Now, the 2019 Grand Caravan will continue to use a 3.6-liter V6 engine. The hybrid minivan is not official yet, but the entire industry is expecting it during 2019.
2019 Dodge Grand Caravan Engine Specs
The 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan is not changing the parts that help it gain the reputation of the reliable and durable minivan. The heart of the MPV is a 3.6-liter unit with the capability to produce 283 horsepower. It is 4 ponies less than the same engine is delivering for Chrysler Pacifica. The Pentastar drivetrain is transferring power through a six-speed automatic transmission. Also, the mill adds 260 lb-ft of torque. Finally, it can take E85 fuel, but in this case, the fuel economy drops to 15 mpg. Standard fuel will return 21 mpg combined.
Hybrid Drivetrain Coming in 2019
At the moment, the only hybrid minivan the US buyers can buy is Chrysler Pacifica. As the parent company, the 2019 Grand Caravan could get the similar drivetrain. The base of the hybrid system is the same petrol engine the standard model is using. That is a 3.6-liter, but this time it gets support from a 16 kWh battery. This combo is good for 260 hp and improved fuel economy. The 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan hybrid will return over 32 mpg combined. Its MPGe rating will be over 85. Also, the minivan will be capable to run by using the electric power only. In this case, the battery should run out after 35 miles.
